BRADENTON -- Poor weather may have accounted for 22 Nolan Middle School students missing the school bus Wednesday morning.
A substitute bus driver was working with an experienced bus driver on Bus 670, said district spokesman Mike Barber. The drivers reported they stopped at every stop along the route, which serves Nolan Middle School.
When the drivers returned to the transportation complex, callers said 22 students at two bus stops were not picked up. The drivers reported they picked up eight students between those two stops.
A replacement bus was sent out to pick up the students, Barber said.
It's unclear how the mix-up happened, but Barber said students may have been seeking shelter from the rain and missed the bus at the stop.
