The Manatee County School Board, the audit committee and the public are invited to ask questions about the findings in the forensic audit report in a special meeting with Navigant and Trenam Kempker officials Feb. 21.
By then, the school board will have chosen the new superintendent.
Neither school board member Dave "Watchdog" Miner nor audit committee member Ed Daugherty have questions ready for the officials yet.
The school board chair, Karen Carpenter, is primarily concerned with events that led up to the deficit and former superintendent Tim McGonegal's resignation.
Never miss a local story.
"I want to know what was reported and when," Carpenter said. "I need to dig through the statements made by the former CFO and former superintendent to get a sense of who was accountable and why the school board was not notified about the deficit."
Questions will be taken from the audience at the meeting. The public is also encouraged to submit any questions they have via email to email@example.com to ensure their concerns are addressed.
The meeting will be held in the Manatee County Commission Chamber on the first floor of the Manatee County Administrative Building at 1112 ManateeAve. W.
The meeting will begin at 5:45 p.m. and will be broadcast live via Manatee Government Access, which can be accessed on Bright House channel 622, Verizon channel 30 and Comcast channel 20. A live stream will be available on www.mymanatee.org/mga.
