BRADENTON -- The flu has postponed today's Manatee School District's Audit Planning and Review Committee meeting, school officials said.
Audit committee chair Bobbie Windham is ill and will not be able to attend. Both internal auditor Ed Daugherty and school board chair Karen Carpenter said the meeting cannot go on without her.
"We did not want to take the chance of spreading anything," said Daugherty. He added that while he does not know how long it will take Windham to get back on her feet, the meeting will be rescheduled as soon as possible, especially with the search for a new superintendent in full swing.
"We will need to have [the meeting] quickly, as we have a full agenda," said Carpenter.
Never miss a local story.
She reviewed the agenda for the meeting with Daugherty last Friday at 9 a.m., the date that the supporting documents for the forensic audit report were released. She said that it is critical to have as many people at this meeting as possible, especially the chair.
The meeting was originally set to take place 4 p.m. today at the Professional Support Center. Notice that the meeting was cancelled was sent out about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The Citizen's Advisory Group will still meet at 5:30 p.m. today to discuss the key questions that should be presented next week in the superintedent search interviews.
