A 31-year-old man was charged with selling fentanyl to an undercover detective in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, an undercover detective with the sheriff’s office placed an order for $100 worth heroin with Kirby Riley and arranged for the deal to take place in the area of 30th Avenue West and 14th Street West in Bradenton, according to a news release.
About 4 p.m., Riley arrived at the location, made the sale and was arrested, according to the report.
“Presumptive testing on the narcotic did not show any presence of heroin but tested positive for fentanyl,” the sheriff’s office said.
Fentanyl is a powerful narcotic often mixed with heroin to increase its potency.
Detectives say Riley was also carrying another half-gram of fentanyl.
Riley faces charges of sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church and possession of a controlled substance.
