A Sarasota man was charged with 15 counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
John M. Pyle, 59, possessed more than 10 images and/or video of child pornography, which qualifies for an enhancement to a second-degree felony, according to a report. A search warrant was executed Friday at Pyle’s apartment in the 3300 block of South Osprey Avenue after detectives received three separate cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The three tips included seven uploaded images of child pornography, police said.
Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department worked with detectives from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an initial forensic preview of any computer or cell phone found on the property in search of child pornography. According to the report, the initial search by detectives found two bondage images of child pornography, 15 images of sexual conduct and 31 child pornography with no sexual conduct.
Pyle was being held in Sarasota County jail without bond, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website.
More charges are possible and the case remains under investigation, according to the report.
