A man wanted for a Sarasota burglary that happened in May was captured Sunday in Colorado, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Gregory Miller, 28, was arrested on a single charge of burglary of a dwelling and is being held in the Adams County Jail awaiting extradition to Florida, according to a release.
Miller, who was formerly employed by the victim, was identified as the suspect who stole two safes containing more than $200,000 in cash and jewelry. The sheriff’s office said, through further investigation, detectives located evidence in Miller’s vehicle, including a blanket and piece of paper both stolen during the burglary.
Deputies also learned that Miller traveled through several states since the crime occurred, deputies said. On Sunday, while working closely with investigators in Denver, the U.S. Marshals and Adams County Sheriff's Office found Miller hiding in a hotel room. When he was taken into custody, deputies recovered a brief case containing $100,000 in cash.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit worked in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force to capture Miller, according to the release.
