After a woman bleached her live-in boyfriend’s clothes because she thought he was with another woman early Tuesday, the man threatened to shoot his girlfriend and her family and would not let her leave their home, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Walter Watson, 27, came home to the 4500 block of 26th Street West from the store at 5 a.m., according to an arrest report. His girlfriend of two years believed he was with another woman and bleached five of his shirts.
When Watson saw the bleached clothes, he told his girlfriend he wouldn’t let her leave until he bleached her clothes, deputies said. He told her, “I have a gun and you’re not going anywhere.”
The woman asked to leave several times and tried to leave twice, but Watson blocked the door with his body with the gun in his hand, according to the report. He kept yelling, “Try me,” and also threatened to shoot her family members if any of them showed up at the residence, according to the report.
Deputies arrived to see two of Watson’s relatives at the door of the apartment, who tried to close the front door, according to the report. Deputies saw Watson sitting on a couch close to the door and reaching underneath it. The victim said the handgun Watson used to threaten her was under the couch, and deputies recovered a loaded firearm there.
The victim also showed deputies two other firearms in the apartment, one which was reported stolen out of Sarasota.
Watson was charged with false imprisonment of an adult and aggravated domestic assault. He was released from the Manatee County jail on Wednesday.
