MANATEE -- An Englewood woman was arrested Tuesday after she crashed a stolen vehicle at a Walmart store in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash at 6:06 p.m. at the Walmart located at 2911 53rd Ave. E., according to an arrest report. During the investigation, they found the 2004 white Toyota Corolla in the crash had been reported stolen out of Fort Myers in April.
Troopers detained Kathryn Whitman, whom the trooper and two other witnesses saw inside the vehicle, until deputies arrived to question her.
Whitman, 33, told the investigating deputy that she met a man a week ago and that he picked her up at an Englewood Publix earlier that day, saying he wanted to go to Walmart. She told him she wanted to drive to "practice her skills at driving a 'stick shift.'"

Whitman said the man told her it was a, "transport vehicle." She then refused to identify the man and stopped cooperating, according to the report.
Whitman was charged with motor vehicle theft and released from the Manatee County jail on Wednesday on $1,500 bond.
