SARASOTA -- A 55-year-old Nokomis man is in critical condition at Blake Medical Center after his 2002 Harley-Davidson overturned following a collision at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 41 and Habitat Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP reports Luisa Nealon, 43, Osprey, had stopped a 2006 BMW X3 facing southwest in the paved median of State Road 45 (Habitat Boulevard).
The Harley was southbound on S.R. 45 in the left lane approaching the Habitat Boulevard intersection when the BMW turned left into the path of the bike, which swerved to the right lane of southbound S.R. 45. The BMW went back to the right lane of southbound S.R. 45 as the Harley was passing, which then struck the right-rear side of the Beemer.
This impact caused the motorcycle to overturn onto the right shoulder of southbound S.R. 45.
Nealon was charged with improper change of lane.
