MANATEE -- Detectives are still investigating a shooting that left a 25-year-old gang member dead and another man injured Saturday.
Samuel Conde, 25, was found lying in a driveway before dawn Saturday and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On Tuesday, deputies heard gunshots fired four blocks from where Conde died. Investigators won't say if they believe the latest shooting is related, despite concerns of retaliation.
"We don't have enough on this morning's to say it is or isn't," said Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dave Bristow.
The investigation into Saturday's shooting is ongoing, Bristow added.
About 1:08 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to reports people in two cars northbound in the 4000 block of Ninth Street East were shooting at each other, according to the report. Deputies in the area also heard the shots.
Deputies found shell casings in the 4000 and 4100 blocks of Ninth Street East. In the 4100 block, a vehicle struck by gunfire was found, according to the report.
There were no reports of injuries in the shooting,
Early Saturday morning, Conde was killed during an exchange of gunfire outside
a home where neighbors say people frequent an illegal backyard bar known for illegal activities such as gambling and prostitution.
Neighbors say food and alcohol is also being sold after hours.
A second victim believed to be involved in the gunfight, a 29-year-old Bradenton man, was shot and released from the hospital after being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Conde is a documented gang member with a criminal history, including convictions for gang-related racketeering.
