MANATEE -- Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives Tuesday raided a grocery store and seized 65 packages of synthetic marijuana, according to a news release. A store employee, who was on probation after he was convicted in March of selling the fake drug, was arrested.
The detectives executed a search warrant at Whitfield Grocery, 1232 Whitfield Ave.
"The search warrant was obtained after synthetic marijuana was purchased from within the store during an undercover operation," the release states.
The packages have an estimated street value of $750, according to the sheriff's office.
Store employee Husam Ghnaim was arrested and charged with sale of a controlled substance and a probation violation. He was being held without bond, according to the Manatee County jail website.
Jail records show that Ghnaim, 49, was arrested in March on charges he was selling synthetic marijuana after a previous undercover operation by the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
Court records show that he pleaded guilty to to five counts. Final adjudication was withheld, pending successful completion of two years of probation and other requirements.
