MANATEE -- A 31-year-old Sarasota man is in critical condition at Blake Medical Center when a car made an illegal U-turn in front of his motorcycle at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP Trooper Barbara Erhardt reported a 2012 Honda Pilot driven by 47-year-old Mathew Kroeger of Parrish was northbound on U.S. 41 in the left-turn lane to U-turn and travel southbound on U.S. 41.
FHP reported the Pilot turned directly into the direct path of motorcycle driven by Jacob Ballew and the impact knocked him 88 feet onto the west sidewalk of US 41.
No skid marks were found on the roadway.
Ballew was ticketed for having no motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license.
Kroeger was ticketed for making an improper U-turn.
