MANATEE -- A Bradenton man was charged with armed burglary to an occupied dwelling, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Glenn D. Smith, 38, was arrested at 12:56 p.m. Friday at a home in the 700 block of 60th Avenue Terrace West in Bradenton. According to a report, a witness saw Smith on the side of her neighbor's residence with gloves on and "acting suspicious." Since the witness knew that the victim and her baby were home, she had her brother check on the welfare of the neighbor while she called police.
Deputies said the side of the house where the witness saw Smith was checked and a screen was dislodged from the windowsill. According to a report, that's where Smith was trying to get into the house. When officers responded, a K-9 was able to track Smith down at a nearby residence.
According to deputies, a folding razor box cutter and a black and silver wine bottle corkscrew were found on Smith's person.
Smith was being held in Manatee County jail on $120 bond, according to the sheriff's website.
