Palmetto woman charged with battery over kitchen use disagreement
PALMETTO -- A Palmetto woman was charged Sunday with battery, according to the Palmetto Police Department.
Deborah K. Brier, 60, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Sunday. According to a report, the victim, who shares the same living space as Brier, said she was cooking in the kitchen on Saturday night when Brier began cursing at her. Brier is the landlord of the property. Police said the victim ignored Brier, who continued to yell at the victim and told her she was not allowed to cook anything. The victim disagreed.
The victim told police that Brier then charged at her and grabbed her by the neck, which left a scratch on the right side of the victim's neck. According to a report, the victim then grabbed the pan she was cooking dinner in and tossed it outside.
Brier was released the same day on $500 bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office website.
