SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Sarasota man for his eighth DUI.
Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies stopped a white GMC pickup truck driving recklessly near the intersection of Glengary Street and Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, according to a sheirff's office report.
When the vehicle slowed, the driver jumped out and ran toward a nearby building causing deputies to deploy their Taser.
Once the driver was taken into custody, deputies searched the vehicle to find a Ziploc bag of more than 70 grams of marijuana, nearly 200 prescription pills and a notebook detailing the weight and description of the drugs.
Phillip Buckles, 52, 417 Beach Road No. 19, is charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, three counts possession of a controlled substance, three counts possession without a prescription, trafficking and intent to sell. Additional charges include driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a DUI test, resisting arrest and driving while license is permanently revoked.
Buckles' records show his license has already been revoked three times in Florida. He is being held at the Sarasota County jail without bond.
