BRADENTON — A woman was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after she struck a man with a hammer outside a church, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Annette Stafford, 51, listed as homeless in the police report, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Monday.
The victim said he was sleeping at the First United Methodist Church in the 1400 block of Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, when Stafford walked up and began shouting he was in her spot.
The victim said Stafford began throwing his bags around, threatened him and struck him with a hammer. According to the report, Stafford struck the victim in the right hand, causing a small laceration to the middle finger. Stafford then fled southbound, hammer in hand.
Police said the victim refused medical attention. Stafford was being held in Manatee County jail on $7,500 bond.
