TAMPA -- Two people were injured early Friday when their car skidded off a Tampa street and into a building.
According to Tampa police, the car was in the westbound lanes of Busch Boulevard near north 46th Street at 3:30 a.m. when the driver lost control, hit a concrete median and skidded across the street.
The vehicle slammed into the Achievement Center For Early Learning building at 4609 East Busch Blvd. The car ended up flipped over onto its roof and the building was left with a gaping hole in the front wall.
The two people in the vehicle, a woman in her 30s and a woman in her 20s, were taken to Tampa General Hospital as trauma alerts. Their conditions have not been released.
The owner of the center, which serves about 80 children ages 1 to 11, said it would not be open Friday.
"Very scary, very scary," said Vincent Hernandez, the daycare owner. "Just very thankful this happened in the middle of the night and not during work hours...and no body was there."
The crash is under investigation.
