MANATEE — A Bradenton man has been charged with aggravated child abuse, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Theodore Lang, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to the report.
Deputies report Lang abused a 13-year-old male by beating him with a rope, extension cord and belt and burned the child several times with a lit cigarette. Deputies report the abuse left multiple marks and scars on the victim.
The abuse was discovered when the child ran away from home and reported it to a neighbor, according to the report. The neighbor brought the child to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Spokesman Dave Bristow said the sheriff’s office became aware of the abuse Aug. 6.
