MANATEE — A Bradenton woman has been charged with petty theft after she failed to pay her $24 cab fare, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Shelly Ann Fama, 52, was arrested at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday at her home.
A taxi driver picked up Fama from a Sarasota Ramada Inn and brought her to her Bradenton home, according to the report. She told the driver she had money to pay for the cab ride and, when they arrived to the destination, Fama walked around the side of the home before entering through a back gate, according to the report.
According to deputies, the driver called the sheriff’s office when Fama did not answer the door. He told deputies Fama appeared to be on drugs.
A deputy found Fama in the backyard leaning over on a chair. She told the deputy she thought the driver left and slowly began digging through her purse, according to a report.
When she did not end up paying she was arrested and held on $120 bond.
