MANATEE — A man has been charged with dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawn broker for crimes committed between March 7 and March 9 in Parrish, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report, 24-year-old Miles Rivers was hired by a woman to housesit while she was out of town March 7-9.
In July, the victim reported $20,000 in jewelry missing.
A search revealed Rivers pawned several pieces of jewelry at different shops throughout Manatee County, according to the report.
Rivers, already in jail on an unrelated domestic charge, admitted to taking the jewelry and pawning several pieces, according to the report.
Rivers was being held on bonds totaling $27,000 on the jewelry theft case and on $50,000 bond for violation of a domestic violence injunction.
