LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Valrico teen missing for almost a week has been found injured in Louisiana.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Ashley A. Lyon was located near Lafayette, La. with Steven Patrick Myers, a 41-year-old registered sex offender, after a police pursuit.
Lyon, 16, is in critical condition in a Lafayette hospital after being stabbed multiple times.
"We love and miss our daughter," Ashley's father Roger Lyon said early Thursday morning. "We are grateful for the support that the Greater Tampa Bay area showed us during this long and difficult process. I can't wait to give my daughter a hug."
Roger Lyon said he and his wife were headed to Louisiana today.
Officials said people at a truck stop in Grosse Tete, La. notified local authorities when they recognized Myers and Lyon walking into the truck stop.
Deputies spotted Lyon and Myers in a Chevy 3500 flatbed pickup truck and attempted a traffic stop. Myers who was driving the truck, refused to pull over and led authorities on a 40-mile pursuit.
During the chase, Myers reportedly struck four other vehicles. Deputies dropped stop sticks and deflated Myers' tires. Myers continued driving the truck down to the rims until the truck was disabled.
Once the truck stopped, Myers exited the truck with a knife in hand yelling at the deputies to shoot him. Myers was then apprehended and taken to a local hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana where he was treated for what's believed to be two self inflicted stab wounds and K9 dog bites.
Lyon was found in the truck with multiple stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital in Lafayette. Lyon has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her family said she did not take her medication with her.
Officials did not release Myers' condition.
Earlier this week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for Myers. His charges include interfering with child custody, attempted sexual activity with minors and traveling to meet a minor.
