BRADENTON - Bradenton Fire Department crews responded to a report at 7:56 p.m. Saturday of a structure fire at 1631 Fourth Ave. E.
Upon arrival at 7:59 p.m., the first responding units found smoke and flames visible from a first-floor window. Fire crews brought the situation under control at 8:20 p.m.
There were no reported resident injuries but the resident's dog was found deceased. The two residents were not in the home at the time of the fire but, due to significant heat, smoke and water damage, they will be assisted by the American Red Cross.
The incident is still under investigation by the Bradenton Fire Department and the State Fire Marshals Office, though arson signs have been posted as the result of suspicious circumstances.
