MANATEE -- A 43-year-old woman has been charged with giving a 13-year-old girl alcohol and then beating her as she drove her car in Bradenton, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies located Kellie Baker -- whose birthday was Tuesday -- about 6:53 p.m Tuesday after another motorist reported that Baker was beating the girl as she drove, according to a news release.
"Deputies located the vehicle after it stopped in the 4900 block of 31st Street West," the report states. "Both females had exited the vehicle and were tussling about in a yard."
When deputies ordered Baker to stop, she tried to get back in the car, but deputies were able to restrain her, according to the report.
The 13-year-old girl was still lying on the ground, crying hysterically and bleeding from her nose and a cut above her left eye, according to the report.
"She advised that Kellie Baker was the one who caused the injuries to her face," the report states.
The girl told deputies that she does not remember how she was hurt, and admitted that she had been drinking with Baker.
Baker was charged with child abuse, obstruction and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
The girl, whose relationship to Baker was not included in the report, was released to the custody of her grandmother.
