BRADENTON — Authorities say a 22-year-old Bradenton man broke into a residence, cut a stove out of the kitchen wall and wheeled it down the street on a hand dolly to someone who bought it for $25.
Bernardo Moreno was apprehended after a witness told a Bradenton Police Department officer a man wearing a jacket with a large No. 11 on the back was wheeling a stove around the 700 block of 18th Street East at 8:29 a.m. Wednesday, according to a report.
Moreno admitted to the burglary and told authorities he has been addicted to heroin and needed money to feed his habit, police said.
Moreno entered the victim’s residence in the 1500 block of Eighth Avenue East Wednesday morning while the victim was away and damaged the cabinets and broke a water pipe during the theft, causing more than $1,000 in damage, police said.
Moreno was arrested in the Manatee Trailer Park where a search resulted in the appliance being found in the 2200 block of Seventh Avenue East concealed behind other appliances.
Moreno, who was charged with burglary and criminal mischief of more than $1,000, remained in the Manatee County jail Thursday on bonds totaling $30,500 according to the sheriff’s office website.
