BRADENTON -- Bradenton police are looking for the man officers say stabbed another man during a fight along Manatee Avenue West on Tuesday afternoon.
About 3:15 p.m., the victim and his attacker were arguing in the 1900 block of Manatee Avenue West, in front of the Bank of the Ozarks building under construction. The altercation turned physical when the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the other man several times, including in the leg and buttocks, police said.
The injured man was taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment, police said.
Police were using K9 units to search for the assailant.
He was described as a black man between 18 and his mid-20s. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He has shoulder-length dreadlocks, police said.
The suspect was described as wearing a black winter coat with red collar and light-colored jeans.
Police were interviewing at least two witnesses, one of whom told officers she saw the suspect walk eastward towards Ware's Creek, near where he got on a bicycle.
The victim also had been on a bicycle. After he was stabbed, he walked about 50 feet, when he collapsed.
Eastbound traffic on Manatee Avenue West was slowed to a crawl as police investigate the scene. Both travel lanes were closed, but officers were diverting traffic into the center turn lane.
