BRADENTON -- A motorist was shot and robbed after he pulled over to the side of State Road 64 for what he thought was a police stop, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
About 10:08 p.m. Monday, the victim removed money from the ATM at the Bank of America branch at 4302 S.R. 64 E.
He was traveling westbound on State Road 64 when he noticed flashing lights behind him, according to a police report. He pulled over in the 2800 block of Manatee Avenue East, or State Road 64.
"The lights were similar to the flashing lights on a police vehicle," the report states.

A man approached the victim and demanded his wallet.
"The victim questioned the need for his wallet at which time he was shot one time in the upper right thigh. The victim gave the suspect his wallet," the report states.
"The suspect left in a white four-door vehicle similar to a police vehicle," police said.
An undetermined amount of money was taken.
The victim was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
