MANATEE — A 24-year-old Bradenton woman was struck by a car after refusing to give the driver her phone number, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
As the woman was walking south toward the Dairy Queen at 5217 14th St. W. in Bradenton about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, the driver in the parking lot called her over, according to a news release.
The woman approached the passenger’s side window of the car and the driver and passenger asked for her phone number. She declined and started to back away, according to the report.
As the car accelerated to leave the parking lot, its right rear tire reportedly struck her left leg knocking the woman to the ground, according to FHP.

The Pontiac G6, dark silver or gray with a possible green tint, fled the area. The driver suspect was described as a short male with goatee and short hair. The passenger was described as a heavy male stature wit long beard and short hair.
