MANATEE — Authorities say they found James Adam of Bradenton asleep in the front seat vehicle he had just broken into Friday.
Adam, 24, who lists his address as the 300 block of Springdale Drive, was in the Manatee County jail Monday subject to a $7,500 bond, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website.
Adam has been charged with burglary to a conveyance, violation of probation, possessing illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools, resisting arrest, grand theft and petty theft, a sheriff’s office arrest report indicates.
Adam reportedly burglarized four vehicles in the early morning Friday in the 3500 block of 14th Street West, Bradenton.
Adam was placed on probation Sept. 13 and it doesn’t expire until 2015, the report indicates.
Deputies first heard about the vehicle break-ins from a victim who found her vehicle in disarray Friday morning, with papers scattered about.
After completing a report on the first break-in, the deputy was flagged down by a second victim who said a suspect was asleep in the front seat of her car, the report states. Her vehicle was about 100 feet east of the first break-in.
The deputy reported the sleeping suspect, later be identified as Adam, was wearing clear plastic gloves on his hands.
After waking Adam up and putting him in handcuffs, deputies reportedly found two other vehicles they believe he burglarized.
