MANATEE -- A 56-year-old man was charged with burglary after a surveillance video camera captured him burglarizing a house in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The break-in happened about 8:30 p.m. Monday at a house in the 4500 block of 58th Avenue West, Bradenton.
The video showed Robert Lippert, who the victims know, inside the house and stealing a camera off a table.
But after he was arrested Lippert denied taking anything from the house, that what looked like the camera was only his cigarettes.
"Lippert's recollection of events was untrue based on the video," the report states.
While deputies searched Lippert, he had his hands down the back of his pants. When he removed his hands, the camera belonging to the victim fell through his shorts onto the ground, according to the sheriff's office.
Lippert faces charges of burglary of a dwelling and grand theft, according to the report. He was being held on $9,000 bond at the Manatee County jail.
