MANATEE — A victim and her children came to their Bradenton apartment in the 1900 block of Fifth Street West at 8:30 a.m. Monday and discovered two suspects inside, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.
The mother saw a male suspect run out of one bedroom toward another and then escape through a window, according to the report. While the victim was calling 911, she reportedly saw a juvenile female walk out of her children’s bedroom and out the front door.
The mother confronted the juvenile and talked to her until police arrived, who placed her in custody. The male suspect, later identified as Anthony Kidd, 20, of the 2900 block of 24th Street West, was quickly apprehended by officers, the report states.
Officers noticed the back window of the apartment had been broken, which was the point of entry. The mother told officers she didn’t know the suspects and they never had permission to be in her apartment. Nothing was stolen, the report states.
The mother identified Kidd as the person in her apartment, according to the report.
Kidd reportedly told officers he knew he wasn’t supposed to be in the apartment but he only went in to sleep, not to steal anything. He said he ran out of the apartment because he was scared when the residents came home.
Kidd was being held in the Manatee County jail Tuesday without bond on a charge of burglary to an occupied building, according to the jail website.
