MANATEE -- Manatee sheriff's deputies late Monday arrested three people, including a juvenile, who they say moments earlier had pulled off a home invasion robbery in Bradenton, according to a sheriff's office report.
About 10:45 p.m., three gunmen broke into a residence in the 2100 block of Fifth Street East and demanded residents hand over money and drugs. During the robbery, one of the suspects, later identified as Michael Simmonds, 33, punched one of the residents and took pills she was hiding in her shirt, according to the report.
The suspects then ran away. However, a responding deputy saw the suspects running through a parking lot in the 2300 block of First Street, and they were arrested.
Arrested along with Simmons were Joshua Ziegler, 20, and a 17-year-old juvenile, according to the report.
Simmonds and Ziegler were each charged with armed home invasion robbery and were being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
Simmonds also faces a charge of causing a juvenile to become delinquent, according to the jail website.
