MANATEE — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Manatee County that left two men with minor injuries at 6:55 a.m. Sunday at 30th Avenue West and Eighth Street West, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 2000 GMC Safari driven by a 33-year-old Sarasota man with a 34-year-old male passenger from Bradenton was traveling east on 30th Avenue West approaching Eighth Street West.
Traveling toward the Safari, a 2006 Honda Civic reportedly left its lane and entered the eastbound lane of 30th Avenue West. The left front of the Honda hit the left front of the GMC, according to the FHP report.
The crash injured the driver and passenger in the Safari. After the collision, the driver of the Honda backed his vehicle and parked it on Eighth Street West and 30th Avenue West in the right shoulder. He then began running away, the report states.

The runaway driver is described as a 5-foot-8 male wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. Anyone who may have witnessed thr crash or has any knowledge as to the identity or location of the hit-and-run driver and/or vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
