MANATEE -- Two people were arrested in Bradenton after they led deputies on a chase in a stolen car Wednesday afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
At about 4:20 p.m., the owner of the car, who is from Sarasota, spotted the vehicle in Manatee and called 911.
Responding deputies saw the car in the 200 block of 60th Avenue West and tried to make a felony stop. Instead, the driver fled, according to a news release.
After a short while, the pursuit was terminated in the 700 block of 61st Avenue East.
Eventually, the driver, identified later as Tippy McCullough, 19, crashed into a fence and ditch in the 900 block of 61st Avenue Terrace East and fled on foot.
The passenger in the car, Demarcus Morris, 40, moved into the driver's seat and began revving the engine in an attempt to drive out of the ditch and fence. Deputies had to break a window in order to take him into custody, according to the report.
A short time later, deputies spotted McCullough walking in the roadway, suffering several cuts including a "severe laceration" to her leg, according to the sheriff's office.
Before she was arrested, McCullough tried to break into a residence in the 900 block of 61st Avenue Terrace East, according to the sheriff's office.
After being treated for injuries, McCullough was taken to the Manatee County jail where she faces charges of burglary, aggravated fleeing, motor vehicle theft, leaving the scene of a crash and others. Her bonds total $17,740.
Morris faces several charges, including motor vehicle theft and resisting arrest, was in the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $4,500.
