A 25-year-old Sarasota man is the second suspect arrested and charged with incest and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
Kyle Riley was arrested just after midnight Thursday in the 6500 block of Gateway Avenue in the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota County, according to a news release.
The allegations were first made to a friend June 27 and authorities were notified. The victim told detectives the assaults started when she was 10 years old.
“The victim said Riley would use a butter knife to unlock her bedroom door and have sex with her,” according to the the release. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Kyle Riley's brother, Joshua Riley, 22, arrested July 3, was the first person charged in the case on identical charges.
“Children are our most precious citizens,” Sarasota Police Crimes Against Children Unit Sgt. Chris Born, said “Our agency will do everything we can to protect these innocent people and arrest the perpetrators involved.”
The defendants are being held with no bond and face a possible life sentence.
