MANATEE -- Sheriff's investigators have asked the state attorney's office to file child neglect charges against the parents of two teenagers after deputies found their home to be without power and filthy conditions throughout their Bradenton residence, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 3:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies were responding to an unrelated call at the residence in the 1700 block of Marilyn Avenue when they noticed the conditions.
"While at the house the deputies observed the home to be without power, and the floors covered with animal feces and urine and the beds infested with bed bugs. There were dishes piled up in the sink and the bathroom floors were covered in urine and feces," the report states.
Deputies made a capias request for child neglect, which means the state attorney's office will decide on charges, and they have not been arrested.
The children, ages 14 and 15, will be temporarily staying with a friend, according to the sheriff's office.
