The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a shooting at 2919 Gillespie Ave. in Sarasota at approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers in the area heard gunshots before calls came in. Callers reported a dark green Toyota Camry was seen leaving the area southbound toward Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Responding officers found a 16-year-old male shot in the wrist at the Gillespie address.
Officers say the juvenile was uncooperative and did not live at the home where the shooting occurred. He was one of several people standing in the front yard when the shooting began.
Officers stopped a green Toyota Camry on MLK Boulevard and reportedly found fresh bullet holes in it. The sole occupant of the vehicle has been transported to Sarasota Police Department to be interviewed.
Members of the Focus Ministerial Alliance Community Response Team are in the area to gather information.
