Desiree Lenee Rohr, 23, of Marcia Street in Sarasota, was charged Wednesday with felony grand theft after police say she used an occupied baby stroller to shoplift.
The Sarasota Police Department reports Rohr entered Best Buy on May 31 with a friend’s child in her baby stroller to shop. While Rohr was in the store, the manager was told she entered the ladies restroom with merchandise and CD cases.
The managertold police he went into the ladies restroom and found a partially torn package in one of the stalls, then found Rohr in the store and asked her if she knew anything about the torn package. She reportedly said “no.”
The manager said he then noticed a Samsung tablet under a blanket in the stroller. The manager asked why there was a blanket over the tablet and Rohr replied she just set it there. The manager had no reason to detain Rohr but told her he’d be watching her due to the suspicious circumstances.

The manager had another employee help Rohr in the store with her items and offered to place them in a carry bin. An officer was then contacted and told Rohr she was suspected of shoplifting.
The officer noticed a torn Samsung package in the stroller, asked Rohr where the item was and placed her in custody. Rohr reportedly pulled an iPad Mini from her pants and told officers the Samsung tablet was in the back of the stroller.
The value of the iPad Mini and the Samsung Tablet were $1,110.
