The suspect in Monday’s Bank of America robbery remained in a Manatee County jail Tuesday after a judge set his bond at $161,500.
Brennan Cole Fountain, 31, was charged with armed bank robbery 10 minutes after he left the bank at 3401 Cortez Road. At about 11:03 a.m. Fountain reportedly walked into the bank holding a machete-like knife and demanded money.
In a first appearance before Judge Diana Moreland Fountain answered “no” when asked to swear everything he said was the truth.
Based on a criminal history that includes eight prior arrests, the prosecution requested no bond be set. However, the judge set bail because the weapon used was not a gun.
Bond was set at $150,000 for the armed robbery, $5,000 for two counts aggravated assault and $1,500 for theft.
Moreland also ordered Fountain to have no contact with the bank or its tellers. Jessica De Leon, Law Enforcement Reporter, can be reached at 941-745-7049. You can follow her on Twitter @JDeLeon1012.
