A woman was shot and killed early Easter Sunday, according to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives say they are looking for a Bradenton man as a “person of interest.”
Citrus County detectives want to speak with 29-year-old Gregory Scott Holub of the 5200 block of 26th Street West in Bradenton in connection with the shooting, according to a sheriff’s report.
Holub is armed and dangerous, multiple law enforcement sources told the Herald. Anyone who sees Holub is advised to call 911 immediately and not to approach him, Citrus County officials stressed.
Holub is a registered sexual offender, according to The Florida Department of Law Enforcement website.
Holub was still at large at Sunday evening with law enforcement agencies pursuing him heavily, said a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office official who did not wish to be identified.
Holub’s address is in unincorporated Manatee County.
Dispatchers received a call at 3:49 a.m. about a shooting in the 10400 block of East Rabbit Lane in Inverness, according to Heather Yates, public information officer for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Sleepy Hollow, a restaurant on nearby East Gobbler Drive, where witnesses had taken the victim. Deseray Lynn Bowles, 24, of Inverness was later transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where she died.
Holub, whose relationship with the victim is not yet clear, was last seen on foot near the intersection of East Pintail Drive and East Rabbit Lane in Inverness. The 6-foot Holub was wearing a white shirt with blue jeans and may be wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt. Holub weighs approximately 180 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Previously, Holub was sentenced to 50 community service hours in Manatee County in 2004 in a fraudulent check case, according to Manatee County court records. In that case, he listed his address as the 8700 block of East Angler Court in Floral City, Manatee court records show.
The Bradenton Police Department is standing by on this case. “Any way we can assist Citrus County we will,” Lt. Josh Cramer of the Bradenton Police Department said Sunday afternoon when asked about the case.
