MANATEE -- A drug deal gone bad in Palmetto left a man with gunshot wound to the foot late Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to Manatee Memorial Hospital about 10 p.m. after a 29-year-old man arrived there with a gunshot wound to his foot, according to a news release.
The victim told deputies he was sitting in his dealer's car in the area of 15th Avenue East and 22nd Street East in Palmetto, when the dealer robbed him of his cash. During a struggle for the dealer's gun, it fired, striking the victim in the foot, according to the report.
The victim then fled the car and got a ride to the hospital.
The sheriff's office described the suspect, known as "Santino," as being in his 20s, with a short, stocky frame and "a lot of facial tattoos." He was wearing a blue shirt and white shorts, and was driving a dark blue 2005 or newer four-door Acura, according to the report.
