MANATEE -- A Manatee County Sheriff's deputy used a Taser today to capture a suspected drug dealer.
The deputy was parked in the 5700 block of 11th Street West about 11:30 a.m. when he saw a man conducting a drug transaction in front of him, according to a release from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy confronted the the suspect, later identified as Lloyd Johnson, 56.
As the deputy attempted to handcuff Johnson, he pulled away, threw away the baggies of marijuana and tried to run, according to the sheriff's report.
The deputy deployed his electronic control device towards Johnson's back. Both probes struck Johnson between his shoulder blades.
Johnson was placed under arrest. Emergency Medical Servuce responded and treated his injuries.
Johnson was charged with possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence, according to the sheriff's report.
