MANATEE — A man who snatched a woman’s purse in May was arrested Monday after DNA evidence incriminated him.
Terrence Jackson, 36, went into a 7-Eleven at 5640 14th St. W., Bradenton on May 6 wearing a white towel over his head, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s arrest report.
Jackson grabbed a female customer’s purse but couldn’t wrest it free at first, dragging the victim across the floor, the report states.
After the woman let go of the purse, Jackson ran out the door, but the towel fell off his head in the process, according to the report.
The victim’s son confronted Jackson outside the store and tussled with him to get the purse back.
Jackson then pulled out a handgun and showed it to the son, who immediately released the purse, the report states.
Deputies had the towel that was on Jackson’s head sent to a DNA lab for testing and entered the results in a national database, the report states.
The database came up with a match for Jackson, the report states.
Authorities took DNA swaps of Jackson recently and confirmed he was the one who committed the robbery, the report adds.
Jackson was arrested at 9 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of US 301 Boulevard West, the report concludes
