WEST SAMOSET -- Manatee sheriff's deputies tased a 23-year-old man after he became agitated during an altercation with a friend, officials reported.
At about 11 a.m. Wednesday, deputies were called to the scene in the 300 block of 34th Avenue Drive East. When they arrived, Alfred A. Payne had armed himself with a knife and was asking the other person to stab him, according to the report.
As deputies arrived hey noticed Payne was extremely agitated and had his right hand down the front of his pants, they reported. They asked Payne several times to show his hands as he walked toward them at the scene. When Payne refused, the report said, he was tased.
There were no other injuries in the altercation. Payne was arrested on charges of obstruction and resisting without violence.
