MANATEE -- A 19-old-man has been charged with robbing a Manatee business at gunpoint on Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies Thursday arrested Tarvis Lawrence after he was identified as the suspect in the robbery of the Botanica Las Tres Croces, 6320 15th St. E. During the hold-up, the suspect pointed a gun at an employee, threatened to kill her and demanded money, according to the sheriff's office.
Lawrence was located at his home in the 5900 block of 11th Street East, where he attempted to flee, but deputies were able to quickly take him into custody. A loaded .22-caliber pistol he was carrying was identified as the gun used in the robbery, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators identified Lawrence as the suspect based on fingerprints left on a candle the suspect touched during the robbery and on footage captured by a security camera at a Metro PCS store in the same shopping center.
Lawrence was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $207,870, on charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a felon, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting arrest and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.
