MANATEE — A 32-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection to the robbery of a Bank of America branch, the sheriff’s office reports.
Roger Upshaw alledgedly entered the bank located at 3401 Cortez Road at about 10:40 a.m. and presented the teller with a note that said “I have a gun, give me the money,” an arrest report said.
The teller than gave Upshaw $4,179 from her drawer along with a GPS transponder. She then activated an alarm after Upshaw left the bank, the report said.
Deputies were able to locate Upshaw through the GPS after Bank of America security activated the transponder and advised deputies of the coordinates.
