MANATEE - A 75-year-old woman was robbed while sitting in her car at the DeSoto Square Mall parking lot Saturday by JC Pennye, the sheriff’s office reports.

A man opened the victim’s car door at about 12:30 p.m. and demanded her purse.

When the victim refused, the man grabbed the purse and fled in an older model car driven by another man, the report said.

The victim was not injured.

The man is described as being about 6 feet tall, in his 20s and wearing a black or brown grey shirt.
