MANATEE — Two men have been linked to several burglaries reported in West Glenn subdivision, according to the sheriff’s office.
Angel Welborn, 18, and Michael Forbes, 20, were charged with loitering and prowling after deputies said that they received a call around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday about two men going through the neighborhood in the 3900 block of 51st Street Drive West checking car handles, according to an arrest report.
When deputies arrived, the pair fled on foot but were apprehended and put into the rear of a patrol car where their conversation was recorded unbeknownst to them, the report said.
The two discussed what they’d tell deputies if more charged were filed against them and how they would bond out with money from a wallet they’d stolen, the report said.
Welborn has been charged with 10 counts of burglary, loitering and prowling, and three counts of vehicle theft, among other charges. He is being held in Manatee County jail without bond. Forbes has been charged with 10 counts of burglary, loitering and prowling and three counts of vehicle theft. He is currently in Manatee County jail on a $63,120 bond.
