MANATEE — A 60-year-old man was arrested Sunday and charged with Friday’s robbery of the First Bank in the 2400 block of Cortez Road West.
Dennis R. Perry was apprehended after the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office got several phone calls Sunday regarding the robbery that occurred just before 5 p.m. Friday, according to a sheriff’s office report.
The Bradenton Herald published a picture of a robbery suspect on Sunday.
Each caller had seen the surveillance photographs and identified the suspect as Perry, who lives in the Orange Grove Mobile Home Park across the street from the bank, the report stated.

The sheriff’s office made contact with Perry, who gave permission for officials to look inside his trailer. While inside, money, sunglasses, a black hat and black shoes with white stripes were found, according to the report.
The items matched what the suspect was wearing during the robbery.
Perry initially denied committing the robbery, but when confronted with overwhelming evidence, Perry confessed, the report stated.
The bank calculated that Perry got $1,184 when he told a bank teller if she gave him all of the “hundreds and fifties” he would leave and no one would get hurt.
