MANATEE -- A 22-year-old man has been charged with using a note to rob an Ellenton pharmacy of prescription pain pills, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators identified Drew Williams as the suspect in the May 25 robbery at the Kmart pharmacy in Ellenton after deputies responded Saturday to a possible overdose at the Sleep Inn motel at 6505 18th St. E., Ellenton. When they arrived at the fourth-floor room, they heard a loud crash and discovered that Williams had jumped out a window, injuring his leg when he landed on some shrubs, according to a news release.
Williams was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
Detectives on Monday charged Williams with robbery and trafficking in Oxycodone in connection with the Kmart robbery. In the hold-up, the suspect handed an employee a note demanding prescription pills, according to reports.

Sarasota detectives believe Williams may also be in the suspect in the May 31 robbery of the pharmacy at the Target store on Fruitville Road, according to officials.
Manatee detectives originally thought the suspect in the Kmart robbery was the same person who robbed the pharmacy at a Sweetbay grocery store in May 19. However, detectives now believe another suspect was responsible for the earlier hold-up.
