MANATEE -- A man and a woman were arrested after they allegedly robbed an acquaintance of the woman whom they were giving a ride, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, the victim had asked for a ride to an AMSCOT store so that he could buy a money order to pay his rent. Instead, the woman, Gina M. Nelson, drove to near the railroad tracks in the 1700 block of 67th Avenue East, according to the sheriff's office.
Once there, the male suspect, Jason Tyler Zwelling, used a crowbar or machete to threaten the victim. Zwelling also ripped the suspect out of his seat, causing some bruising, according to the report.
Zwelling took $550 from the victim, and he and Nelson fled, leaving the victim on the side of the road.

Deputies later located and arrested Zwelling and Nelson, who admitted to the robbery, according to the sheriff's office.
Zwelling and Nelson were being held without bond at the Manatee County jail on armed robbery charges.
